Just installed the Windows version on Ubuntu using steam/proton experimental. Seems to work fine. The license activates, despite the license service error (WMIC), which I recall was one of the primary issues. From here
Would it be possible in 1.8+ to add an exception in the cryptlex activation/validation flow on the WMIC error, or specifically detect wine (albeit not the approach recommended by wine), and use an alternative/custom fingerprint to account for wine? WMI doesn’t seem to be requried outside of licensing, and cryptlex does offer the option for custom fingerprinting.
The second part of the above quote, going to test against my 2 devices (a K40 and a JCZ fiber) this weekend.
Again, not calling for full linux support, but a little tweak that may go a long way!
(Or make me sign an NDA and gimme a shot at it…)
