Ruida File Limit

I am looking for alternatives to Ruida 6445g controller on my machines, the 90-100 file limit is a real drag and no i do not want to have to load files manually into the machine for each job. I run a production shop and need to have all the files up on each of the machines which is north of 200. I currently use lightburn to select the file (from the file list menu) and run it. Is there any other controller perhaps Trocen, that lets you have more than 100 files on board ? and are they as stable / supported by lightburn as ruida controllers ?

Thanks.

Does the USB drive have the same 100 file limit? Could you possibly load all your saved jobs onto the USB and keep that in place as your data store?

thats a good question, let me try that out!

so i’ve tried that but while it seems the file limit is beyond 100 on the usb stick, it’s not accessible through lightburn and also takes alot more steps to access the udisk files on the machine manually.

Unfortunate.

Instead of using the file list menu to run stored jobs, is it possible to pull up the .lbrn file and hit the Play button instead of the Send button? This way it will use a temporary rd file and you won’t run into the issue of having to manage the number of files on the controller.

I only save repetitive jobs on the controller, everything else is sent from the program just because of the file limit.

all 200 of these jobs are repetitive, and there’s more coming each day. these jobs get run daily, yes all 200 of them.

yes unfortunately, thats not possible, we run over 200 jobs daily and loading lightburn files manually is too much of a time sink, i’m not talking about 1 machine here, we’re running many.

found out the trocen controllers handle 256 files. i guess that’ll do, so for the second part of my question, is it supported as good as ruida as far as controllers go ?

The only significant differences are Z axis control isn’t handled as well, and rotary settings have to be entered from the control panel, not the software. Otherwise they’re very similar. If you don’t use Z or rotary, you wouldn’t notice a difference.

Older models, like the 708S, do not allow you to change the ‘Job Origin’ type in software - you set that from the controller panel as well. The newer models do allow changing this from software as well.

Thanks @LightBurn, I think i’m actually leaning more toward the RDC6344G looks like it has a much higher memory on board.

It would still likely have the 99 file limit though.

@LightBurn oh mmmm that sucks lol feels like we’re stuck in DOS mode on these controllers, 8 char limit, 99 files (actually more like 90 on my machine)

I dropped a line to my Ruida IT guy. Will let you know what I hear back.
