Running Multiple Monport Ga 100 Lasers (BSL Fiber)

We have 4 lasers in our shop. I can easily run multiple lasers with multiple instances of Lightburn open, but I cannot run 2 of the same identical lasers. We have 2 monport GA 100 lasers.

When connected they read as the same device name. “Cypress FX2LP Sample Device” (see attached photo)

They do not have ethernet ports. Whichever device is connected first, is the oneLightburn recognizes. I have scoured the forum and web and have not found a viable solution yet, aside from using two computers. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Try moving one of the lasers to a different USB controller. Are you using a Laptop or a Desktop PC? You could either add a USB 2.0 hub or in the case of a desktop you could add a PCI USB card.

I’m running off a laptop. I tried plugging one into a hub and another into a port, and each into their own port, neither worked.

Unpowered USB hubs do not seem to be fully compliant with USB standards. Two of my lasers plugged into one hub would not work. I suspect one in a hub and the other in a PC USB socket may not work either.

What do you see if you expand the Ports (COM & LPT) line? There may be two separate COM ports assigned to each of the lasers.

Were you able to get your two lasers to work?

Only with a second laptop. All my stuff is so close together that I did not need to pursue any other method. I use a NAS box for file sharing and archiving.

Using multiple computers is really the best use case scenario anyway. You are asking quite a lot of your onboard USB controller to run multiple machines. Especially if you are using identical machines.

You should although be able to do it, as long as you are selecting an individual COM port for each machine.

But If you have the spare computers I would definitely recommend that you separate your workload. This will ensure the best reliability.
