Scaling in device settings not being applied

Hello,

I’m following this video in my attempt to set up my new ComMarker B6 50W fiber laser. I engraved a black stockpaper as shown in the video and it all looks good using the .cor file that came with the machine. However, the scaling is wrong. 65 mm box in lightburn, but the actual engraving is 74 mm. I did the math and entered my own scaling number as shown in the screenshot, but the engraving size remains the same at 74 mm. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: 150 mm lens if it matters

Edit 2: I just noticed the values aren’t saving. I’m entering 87.83% for both X and Y scales. Also, the machine work area keeps resettings to 173 mm instead of 150 mm that I’m entering when editing the machine profile in the “device” profile.

Edit 3: OK, I think it’s saving the scaling values now after restarting LB.

Your device scales are set to 100% ??

Yes, I made an edit mentioning that. It seems it keeps resetting to 100% and isn’t saving my 87.83% value. Also, my work area keeps resetting from 150 mm (manually setting myself) to 173 mm which is the default value when loading the EZCAD config file.

It’s not clear whether you’ve tried using the wizard to calibrate your COR file yet? So far you’ve only tried changing values from your device settings?

Correct. I’m only editing the device setting values as the box is perfectly shaped. Only the scaling is off, so I guess I have to edit the cor file that’s referenced for the scaling to take effect?

Just checked your referenced doc page. So, the video has this Galvo Orientation Calibration file that I downloaded and used that for the test. I’ll try the Wizard as suggested and report back. Thank you!

I went through the Galvo Calibration Wizard and clicked on “Done” to save the applied settings. Then, I ran another job of a 65 mm square. The framing and engraving both measure 74 mm. I can see that the original .COR file has been modified by LB and it’s using a different one. What else am I missing?

P.S. The calibration box was out of shape during the test (measuring at 160 mm instead of 150 or lower per the 85% rule), and it’s a perfect square afterwards, so I know the wizard values are working. Only the scaling is off.

@JessN I tried EZCAD2 on a different laptop and the scaling is dead on. It’s overshooting only in LB. Please see the post above this one for more info. Thoughts?

I forgot to mention that I tried the 3 dots by the scaling fields for Galvo 1 & 2, inputted the measured values and that didn’t fix anything either.

OK, so I deleted and started fresh. This time I just entered the calibration values that I took a screenshot of instead of referencing a .COR file. Lo and behold, it’s perfect now.
