Scaling Issue When Importing Images

Hi -

Is there a best practice for importing images to maintain scale? I am trying to do a print and cut and running into scaling discrepancies when importing the image into Lightburn. I’ve created an image contained with-in a 7.5in x 10.5in square and when I import the image into Lightburn I have to adjust the square to 7.34in x 10.3in to get it to scale properly. I’ve saved the image using different file formats such as a jpeg, pdf, and png.

Thanks for your help!

How are you generating the image?

PNG files won’t necessarily have DPI information so scale likely needs to be interpreted. JPEG and PDF should scale accordingly.

I just tested import of a PNG and JPEG created on my system intended to be 100 mm and it imported to scale.

Can you test these and see if they import at 100 mm?

Thank you for the quick reply and additional questions. I believe I found what was happening based off your question. I was creating the image in MS Publisher and it is somehow being resized when saved as a JPEG. I’ll play around with the settings when saving as a JPEG image and I think that should do the trick. Thanks again!

Great. Sounds like you have your lead.
