ok doing cad cam on a Mac
can I use a pc laptop as a dedicated cnc screen.?
work stage design -toolpaths- on my Mac then send to either gender or millmage sender and cnc ? does changing from Mac to pc create a problem???
Not sure if it’s the same with MM, but this is how it works for me with LB. Design on Mac and old PC is connected to the laser machine, the file is transferred over LAN or mail or USB stick… works fine.
Light burns goes strait to laser machine in my case a thunder 100w
Difference is mm sends to a sender eg gsender or , well millmage sender on a dedicated laptop, or MacBook , so yeah see it as very different! Cheers
Not sure if this is helpful, but I have one Laser and one CNC machine, and both are connected to a single iMac via USB. LightBurn and MillMage are installed on this iMac. There is no need for any other g-code sender, since MillMage controls the CNC just fine. This works for me since all 3 machines are in the same shop, and relatively close together.
I do my design work in another room, on a different iMac, and just export a PDF to a shared folder. I then import into either MillMage or LightBurn on the shop iMac, and set up the jobs as needed.

but as you know need to be able to move etc on a dedicated mac or iMac? one at the cnc ….for the cnc/// what your saying is ok as im a dinosaur ill have to take it in
I too would do my cad cam on a seperate, still iMac in office. only 5 meters from the machine
Use the MillMage Bundle feature to synchronize the settings between the 2 machines. Then any design on the MAC will be the same on the computer connected to the laser.
this sounds good so if i have 2 imacs all connected to the same network ! one in office mmmmonly 3-4meters away and one as adedicated screen for the cnc . don’t understand bundles ?? but sounds like what i want. can you explain as i want to try MM sender to opperate the cnc.

so id have a screen and computer mac mini dedicated to the cnc******
then another wich i have now with MM on to design on cad/cam alot of macks are able to connect between same wifi or airdrop etc so. maybe i dont have to have those 2 tethered together with a usb cable??? **** *
but the one dedicated to the cnc will be connected by probably a usb cable to the genmitsu motion controler box !

This is above my pay grade. I am a Windows person but it sounds good. I do know a USB from laser to computer is best. On my network, I have a NAS (network access storage) box I use for moving files around. But a thumb drive works well too.
The thumb drive is recommended for moving a Bundle from one computer to the other.

i know i could save the file on office comper to desktop and it should also be on the other dedicated mac ! but more like to mirror (maybe be a poor discription ) MM on the office to MM on dedicated Imac . if anyone has a similar setup on a amc please let me know!
