Sculpfun - engrave size - shape is wrong - squished - aspect ratio

Can you help me? I have a Sculpfun and im using Lightburn. My size is off the width is off and when i do a 1.0 x 1.0 star its small and wide.

Yours is a totally different type of laser… it is best you start your own thread in the …

Area…

It is best to ‘advertise’ where the help for your machine is most likely to see it… Yours is a grbl machine, this one is a Ruida…

Maybe @JohnJohn can move it for you… if you can’t…

I don’t work with those, but many do… hang in there…

:smile_cat:

Ok thank you

Moved…

I’m really glad you’re connected to the Sculpfun and have gotten this far!

If you measure the star is it the wrong size in both directions or just one direction?

The most often seen reason for one axis being wrong on a hobby laser is a recently used rotary tool and leaving the setting ‘on’ when the rotary has been put away.

If that wasn’t the case here, one of the factory settings may have gotten messed up, or a mechanical problem with the engraver.

In the Console window in LightBurn request the following report by typing:
$$
then press enter.
Copy and paste that here, this will tell us quite a bit about the set up of the laser. A picture of the squished star would be helpful too.

Your setting for the y steps / mm is wrong. It should be 80 as well. Send “$101=80” in the console window to set the correct value. On this page you’ll fine a table with all settings for a Sculpfun laser: Firmware Update & Settings - Diode Laser Wiki
