I’m new to lasers and Lightburn and I hope this is the place to ask newby questions. I have searched for answers to no avail.
I have a downloaded a single vector image (.ai) consisting of various designs and I want to select just a single design in it for my project. I have tried different cutting tools but only get the green selection around it, but it disappears when I release the mouse.
How do I do this?
My laser is a Max 50W fiber w/110mm lens that came with Ezcad2.
My laptop is an Asus running Win 11 64.
Lightburn 1.7.08
Thank you.
First, make sure the vector is not grouped. Review this.

There’s a good chance the file is grouped. You can tell by the pattern of the animated dots or dashes when you select:
The rectangle on the left is not in a group, so the selection is just simple dashes. The one on the right is grouped, so the selection is dashes and dots.
If something is grouped, you can select all of it or none of it, but not parts. You’d need to un-group (Ctrl+U) to get things to the point where you can select what you want. You might have to do it multiple times too - It’s possible to group things and then group the groups, and so on.

Well crap, I thought I tried that, but obviously I didn’t. I cut it out and it worked.
Thank you.
