Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have an image of a tulip. I have tried to join and separate the component parts with node tools and with Boolean subtract, but am getting nowhere.
The screenshot show a tulip in the bottom left corner. Having played around with nodes etc, I then did a copy of this, ungrouped and selected each bit. You will see that some outlines will not separate (the two leaves), other selections are composed of more than one section of what will be my marquetry cut out, and others are isolated lines.
So how can I separate out all of the individual pieces so that I can cut each one in a different colour of wood?
Thanks for your help.
If this suggestion does not solve your problem, consider to attach the troublesome file to your post. The suggestion is a guess that you need to use the break apart feature to provide the necessary separation. I’ve found in the past that some creations don’t seem to follow the rules, and break apart provides for that one extra boost to get things in order.
Yes, there are so many things to do with nodes, that despite reading instructions and looking at Youtube videos, I seemed to have ignored the break function (of if I tried it, I had not selected things properly). Having been encouraged by your reply, I have spend about 6 hours today working on my project, and although there are still things I am a bit confused about (e.g. the two different types of cross hairs, either going up and down, or at 45 degree angles), and still a bit confused about green versus red nodes), things are now working pretty well. Thanks for you reply that encouraged me to persevere!
