I have a new Omtech 60w CO2 laser and a new Omtech chuck rotary. I have rotary plugged in. Attempted to read the DM545A chart on controller but it is blocked so unable but I know my 5,6,7,8 switches are off, off, on, off. Since I am unable to read the chart as it is blocked, I don’t know the stpes per revolution. I googled the controller and it stated 5000 based on my switches. I have the rotary enabled in lightburn, the steps set to 5000 and all it does is move the laser along the x axis slightly - no rotation. It did turn slightly at one point when I was changing settings to see if the steps per rotation was wrong but now all it does is move slightly to right on x axis. ANy thoughts? Rotary is enabled, chuck is checked and nothing seems to work when I click test.
Did you follow the setup guide?
Yes - not sure what issue could be. When I hit the test button all that happens is laser head moves to the right a little
Sounds like you have the correct steps/rotation. Test should rotate the device on complete turn and back.
I assume this is new and has never worked? If the rotary isn’t moving I’d check to ensure there isn’t a wiring issue between the motor driver and the rotary.
Most of these are two phase, if they are not connected, it won’t move.
An ohmmeter can tell you the phase pairs, if it’s not on the motor. Ensure both A+, A-, B+ and B- are wired correctly to the Y axes motor driver.
I have a OMTECH 100 Watt co2 and I use the chuck style rotary with mine. I do not remember the settings off hand. But I dont remember having any issues. I am making some modifications so that I can angle the chuck.
