Setting up JPT 60w MOPA Laser - framing but not marking

Hi all,
I’ve been racking my brain for sometime and trying to use Chat-GPT and Gemini to help but I cannot get a solution. I’ve had this laser work in EZCad2 but want to move to light burn.

Symptoms:
Framing fine.
Red dot always on.
Not marking.
Laser ‘ready’ under the laser box

Installed during installed (Selected EZCad2 galvo)

My problem is I am getting it to frame with a basic text with outline but it will not mark no matter what I try. On one attempt I got a little fizz for a second but then it stopped. I’m starting to question if the laser itself has a fault now.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling to get the correct drivers, I’ve allowed auto find and manual creation with the markcfg7 file but can’t get anywhere. It continues to frame correctly but no marking and I’m running out of ideas. I bumped up the QS to 400 as this was an issue when using EZCad2 and got it work there doing this.

I’ve tried changing the device type from JPT to the IPG_YLPM based on a suggestion from Gemini. Neither helped.

Welcome to the site.

Are you sure it’s focused? Many people, including me, have made that mistake. It’s focus is very critical, so you must ensure it’s OK. I don’t see anything other that the speeds in minutes not seconds.

This would indicate you’re setup for mm/m not mm/s. For the speed of a galvo, mm/s is likely a better choice considering 1000mm/s is a bit easier on oneself than 60000mm/m

Did you or didn’t you use the mark7cfg file and how?
