Settings disappeared, line interval not right

When I would open a saved file it would import all the speed, heat and interval settings. Now, those settings are gone. I manual reset the settings and the interval is way off. I usually engrave on wood with a .06 interval but now a .06 interval is spaced out way to far. Any suggestions as to why this would be happening? Thank you.

What is in the LPI box?

What is the LPI?

Lines Per Inch, right below the Interval box.

There’s nothing below the interval box.

I htink I just found it. The LPI is set to 357.14

Unless you have a low power diode laser, that LPI is too high (interval too small). If it is a CO2 laser, 0.10mm is about as small as you can use. Anything less and you are just overlapping the burns.

Can you provide an image of the “spaces out” results?

I do not Ruida, but I have read it does flakey things when the memory is nearly full. You might want to check on that. You need to do it thru the laser control panel, and not Lightburn.

Hmm. I’ve been engraving at a .06 interval for years, lol. Anything greater doesn’t seem to engrave as well. It takes longer but looks good. It is a 80W CO2 Laser. It was working perfectly fine 2 weeks ago… hmm..

There are guys here that could take apart and reassemble CO2 machines in their sleep. I am sure an image would help them help you.

I don’t see a way to attach an image :frowning:

Did you mouse-over any of the other symbols in the Reply box?

I have had strange things happening lately, the first seemed to be a corrupted file. Have you tried different files? You aren’t loading from art library are you?

The latest problem was move controls only produced one direction and Z moved opposite. I went into File > preferences > load prefs backup and picked an earlier one which fixed the problem at least for now.

I have tried several different files going back 4 years and a newly created file. Just installed update too (after problem, hoping it would fix it.). What used to take 45 min to engrave is now saying 15hrs!:roll_eyes: ugghhh..

Make sure you’re using the open command and not the import command. Import only opens the artwork but doesn’t bring any settings in. Open brings the saved settings with the file.

Share a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen with the Cuts/Layers window and Laser window showing.

That is 15 minutes and 49 seconds.

In the preview window, zoom out until you see the green square around the image. That green square is your boundries. Post a capture of the Preview window then.

Are you saving the files to your local drive? Cloud storage of any type, including iCloud and Dropbox, is strongly NOT Recommended.

The units in the preview suggest the machine is now set up with inch distances. If it was formerly set to millimeter distances, the same numeric value will produce results 25.4 times larger:
