Shapeoko CNC / Homing Switches settings and preventing machine from crashing into rails

Hello, I’m still new and most of this is new to me. I’m using a diode laser attached to my Shapeoko XXL CNC (GRBL 1.1f).

I keep downloading files or manually moving my laser outside my work area and it keeps slamming into the rails.

I have inductive Proximity Sensors for homing, but only have three of them for right, right rear, and Z. Since I don’t have them for the left side, I’m not sure if I’m supposed to change $21=1 and $5=0 but I’ve tried it anyway and it’s not working.

I’ve also start my projects by homing and have my work area within the workspace of my machine.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to prevent my machine from crashing into the rails??
