To start I am new to Lightburn so this is probably a configuration issue. Every time I try to do a material test it errors out with a Shock and Movement detected. It happens at different times, sometimes immediately but usually within 15 seconds of starting.
I am using an OLM3 I am able to burn my uploaded files and use the interval test without issue and I have been burning using lasergrbl for over a week with no issues. It is only on this test material generator.
Your travel speed is very high and the acceleration/ deceleration is causing the laser frame to move during the test.
Two approaches to remedy:
SLOW DOWN!
-OR-
IMHO, The best option is to make sure your laser is fixed very securely to the work station. I have mine bolted to a piece of plywood using āLā brackets.
I will try that, but if I can do the burns at 10000 mm/min normally why would it only fail on the material test. I have an OLM3, the manufactures speeds for basswood is 15000. and the default in lightburn for me is 6000
The material test uses a LOT of short back and forth movements. Those are fast direction changes. High G forces back and forth, back and forth will make the machine jiggle. That is the cause of your alarm.
You MUST adapt your setting to what works for you. No matter what the manufacturer says.
Thank you. I think my confusion was in the difference when doing line vs image. When I import an image and burn it I can at 15000mm/mm but when set to line with a bunch of small lines it errors out at a much lower speed. I just hadnt tried that yet outside of the material test.
So lower power and slower on lines is what I need to do
Half of the fun that I have had is working to figure out what needs to be changed for different projects. I tend to error on the side of low power. I am not a commercial enterprise, so slow works for me most of the time. It is easier to add another pass with more power than it is to sand off the over-cooked burn marks
