Simple Shape Invisible?

This has to be a simple solution and something obvious.

I can not make a shape. I drag out the shape and when I release the button it disappears. A line can be drawn but not a shape.

It seems like it is being drawn, because when I undo it seems like something is being undone, but I don’t see it on the workspace or in Cuts/Layers.

On a new document shapes do work.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Do you happen to have that layer turned to NO OUT PUT?

BAH! Before coffee… I mean to post NO SHOW?

The shape does not show in the Cuts/Layers window as stated in original message. Coffee messes with me. I suggest Celcius energy drink

The shape does get drawn though because I verified from the brilliant undo menu and it says undo Ellipse.

Take a screen snap and post it, please. What is your Lightburn version, and OS?

Shift+WIN+S opens screen capture on Windows. CTRL+V will paste into the reply box.

I’m a white monster guy usually… Caffeine and sugar free, but heavy as hell on the salt.

(edited to correct shortcut keys… SHIFT+Win+S)

Just installed 1.7.07

What would you like me to take a screenshot of?

There is nothing to show as the Ellipse does not show. As stated the shapes do work on a new document.

It’s like the ellipse gets sent to a different hidden layer…?

Standard ask for anyone who posts a mystery question. My crystal ball is not plugged in… can only see what you type.

How about posting the save file here so we can try it our on a wide variety of different machines, so verify the problem?

I suggest an 8 Ball.
Not really but it fits with the humorous sarcasm.

Thanks for playing, good sport.

What color do you want theShape to be on? Almost all of your layers are turned off

Body Skin Cutout 01 Blue - Is turned on. Sooooo Do I have to select the 01 Blue to see the ellipse?
I don’t get it. Something in the procedure?

Draw the shape, then click on 01 in your color pallet.

OMg. I knew it was simple. Still. For example when I draw a line I do not have to select a color to be able to see it. For the little bit of time I have with Lightburn I do not recall this being the case. There is a chance I never had to do a shape before but, again, I expect to see the shape in the Cuts/Layers window before applying a color. I see now that the shape does not show until a color is applied. Everything else I’ve done seems that a default color was applied.

I do intend to make the ellipse part of the 01 blue line so this works out good. I fumbled around with the colors with confusion before but I think this taught me something that is lightburned into my brain now.

Thanks for your help but I was originally put back by your crystal ball comment. The Freecad forum is 100% serious sarcasm meant to insult so I almost didn’t play well. Glad I did. You left a hint of humor in your sarcasm so I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks and God Bless You Jim

All good amigo :sunglasses:.

The color selection issue has caught me more times than I like to admit. I have nearly worn the paint off both CTRL and Z buttons from working Lightburn and using the back one step option. It’s better than Phone a Friend for me.

I try to keep my my snark-casm to a minimum for the sake of the friendly neighborhood here on LB. This is a great place filled with very friendly people.

Happy laser-ing!
