I imported a fairly large number of purchased files into one file to create a library of similar files, and I wanted to organize them so that I could delete duplicates more easily and arrange them by subject. What I ended up doing several times was to select the top row and space it horizontally, then space the first column vertically, the vertically align each column to the top item and each row horizontally to each in the previously spaced column, trying to create an organized grid. Is there a simpler way to do this?
As I found duplicates I ended up needing to do this several times to consolidate the items and it just felt like something there would already be a feature for. Ideally you could select a group of items and tile them or grid them. They were all imported as unique files, so a pattern doesn’t work.
You could create a rectangle just larger than the largest file then use the grid array tool to create a grid of boxes. Then select a graphic, shift select a box and use the bullseye to center the graphic to the box.
I’m going to suggest that rather than doing this you use the Art Library Feature. At least look into it.
I might try the grid but I’m thinking it might take more time than the spacing and alignment.
I’ll look into the art library- I’ve looked at it a good while ago and will check it out again. In this particular case, I wanted to have one file combining the parts visibly because a lot of the parts interchange and can be remixed with the others very easily and without opening a lot of different files. Hopefully the art library will have a way to do this conveniently.
