Since new LB update Xtool D1 acting crazy!

I updated to the new version of Lightburn a few days ago, and ever since my Xtool d1 is not working hardly at all! I have spent the last 3 days nearly pulling my beard out. ( I have no hair, just a big beard…lol). I have uninstalled Lightburn, reinstalled it several times. I have done the same with Laserbox that comes with the xtool D1. I know it’s not my machine because it works fine with Laserbox software.
When i fire up Lightburn program and connect via serialport 1340 it says ready, and when i go to FRAME it will begin framing and within a second or two it stops and moves at an extremely slow speed, like you can hardly see the laser head moving at all. Then in Lightburn on the status it will show “Disconnected”. I am new in the laser game and not a tech savy guy, but i get how basic things work, and for the life of me I cannot figure this issue out. do I need to go back to the previous verson of Lightburn, because that worked perfectly before the update.
Thank you in advance for any help y’all can provide!

You should try downgrading as it’s simple and quick to check and to put your mind at ease whether or not it’s related to the upgrade. You won’t lose your settings.

However, I suspect it’s not related to the version change.

Unfortunately with the D1 and some other lasers this isn’t a safe assumption. xTool has a separate firmware path for their own software that is distinct from the GRBL path that LightBurn uses. Others here have had issues with their D1 acting differently with GRBL but I don’t recall anyone with these specific symptoms.

One thing, can you confirm that you used the device configuration from xTool website when setting up your laser?

Hey! Thanks so much for your fast reply! Ok, so, how do I downgrade? lol. I will take your advice and begin there. I had just received my Xtool D1 about 2 weeks ago and quickly found that their software ( Lightbox Basic ) was , well, extremely basic! haha. I quickly found that Lightburn was the standard in the laser world, and purchased it! I used it for just a few days and was impressed as it was very intuitive and allot of fun! everything was working fine with my laser until I did the upgrade, I shut down my laser and Lightburn that evening and the next day all of my problems began.
I greatly appreciate your time and guidance!

  1. Download any older release here:
    Releases · LightBurnSoftware/deployment · GitHub
  2. Uninstall LightBurn from your computer
  3. Install downloaded LightBurn

On Mac you might even be able to just overwrite the current installation when prompted during a new install attempt. It’s been a while since I used LightBurn on Mac.
