Got a decent question as I can’t find anything related to my problem for lightburn ..most I am finding has to do with grbl program…I have just now started to experience a massive slow down issue ..I will start a project and it’ll engrave absolutely perfect and speed and everything is exactly where it needs to be …the moment I click off lightburn and view like Google images or my email or just the desktop background my laser slows way way way down ..causes my project to take an extreme amount of time to complete as well as engraving almost non existent..I started noticing lines in my projects when I would flip to a new window in lightburn program itself ..what is happening and how might I fix this issue..my computer is a gaming PC with a very good processor and ram as well as a very good graphics card( was built for my son battling cancer to be able to play games with one hand)..this computer is a beast and runs almost any game out there with no issues at all until you hit internet speeds…my cable connected to the laser is only 4 ft long..can anyone help out or explain in words what is happening and how to fix this or is there no fix and I just have to deal with it?
I run Lightburn on an ACER i5 250Gb HD off the shelf machine. There is no slow-down when I check the Forum, emails, or surf Amazon. It has to be something happening in your PC.
Somewhere in there is a performance monitor application that may tell you why it is slowing down. It could be something as simple as not enabling multi cores in the processor, or your virus scan software is going nuts.
Do you know how to check all that information? ..I’ve run a memory diagnostics scan to make sure it’s not my ram having any issues..it’s came back excellent..my storage is a 2 tb SSD with over 1tb of space left ..I think you are correct as there could be something else causing it I am also starting to think the USB cable is going bad ..it’s got about 100 hours or so on it …I’ve cleaned my laser top to bottom . I’ve made sure the firmware is up to date as well as lightburn itself ..I’ve followed a few command prompts to make sure the laser is doing what its supposed to be and I can’t seem to find any issues there unless I’m not checking certain things correctly.. sometimes that’s all gibberish…I’ve even tried to make sure all programs are closed out except lightburn and still even when I minimize lightburn itll still slow way way down..this all started a couple days ago when I noticed a gap in the project ..and now I know why that gap was there just not understanding why it happened in the first place
Google “windows 10 performance monitoring tools”
Is your virus checker up to date?
I’ll just leave an idea that came to mind, but I honestly don’t know if it could happen.
Couldn’t the laser machine have a memory, which is already full, and when it doesn’t have external assistance (computer) it is limited to the free space in the memory and delays all the work?
Wouldn’t even begin to know how to check for that at all but it is a good thought to rule out ..I believe that my specific laser does not have any memory built in and requires you to use an outside source via USB connection to control the laser ..but if anyone has any idea how to check I’m willing to give it a go ..I’ve checked for constant power ..Ive checked for issues with my computer memory and processing issues ..I’ve made sure my USB are always on per advice from someone else ..I’ve even went back and made sure the firmware updated and is actually the newest version..which it was ..even attempted to re do the firmware updated and it was successful as well ..still no luck ..I am going to try and replace the cable and see what that does of anything at all as cables can go bad over time but I don’t actually suspect it to be bad but it’s a simple swap
I seriously doubt the cable would cause this. Stick with the PC being the source of your problem.
