Small problem With the calibration

I have had lightburn for a while now I built a new diode laser cnc. The problem I’m having is the X axis calibrates fine in one direction left to right but is out going right to left.. The x axis also never comes back to the same spot that it started from. I’m using a grbl BOB and Nema 17 motors.
Any Ideas are welcome at this point

Sounds like a mechanical issue. Either there is backlash (depending on how big the difference is) or some effect blocking the axis from going backwards, such that it’s loosing steps on that direction..

Thank you for your feed back I did Have this problem with my other cnc. I went right to the drive pulley and did find when I put this machine together I didn’t have the jam screw on the flat machine side of the stepper motor shaft. I am thinking that the Nema 17 motor I’m using might be a bit small for all it’s carrying the motor is 42Ncm I have ordered another motor a Nema 17 with 55Ncm holding pressure. If this doesn’t work I might have to use a lead screw thank again for your feedback and it’s good to talk to like mined people
