Smoothing original traced shapes

Sorry to take time her on a rookie question, but I am experimenting with tracing shapes and am getting artifacts. I think there is a new took in the latest version to help with this, but I don’t know how toast the question to find it out. I was going in with the edit nodes tool to do this before.

Do we have a new tool that “smooths” shapes after being traced to be as close to the original .png or .jpeg?

I did this using the long-time Offset Shapes tool.
I treated both the inner and outer lines to get a smoothed version of each. Working time, about 2 minutes.

  1. Select Outward or Inward as appropriate.
  2. 1.00 mm offset.
  3. Optimize / Simplify Results

Once you get the results you wanted, delete the unwanted Layers.

P.S. A little Node editing (delete Nodes until you get a straight line) takes care of that squiggly loop at the bottom.

Cool. Thank you for your help. I’ll know put this in my toolbox because I do trace a few objects and spend a lot of time using the node tool to clean them up.

There is also the optimize shapes option in edit menu (iirc). Using this, you have some sliders to smoothen objects automatically.
