I updated to 2.1.02 after updating to Mac OS to 26.5 and receiving a message that Lightburn would not be supported in next update. After Updating the Lightburn software, whenever I open one of my saved designs (the one I tried is simple text), the file opens fine, my Monport 30W MOPA laser is showing in the laser tab, and when I click on the Frame button, there is a pause and then I get the spinning top. I have to force quit Lightburn at that point. I’ve tried rebooting my computer and trying again and the same result.
Is there some kind of driver update that I was supposed to do as well? At this point my laser is useless.
Hi Eric - this sounds like your laser may be having a hardware comms issue. The warning about app support is well known and not an issue (we will have a ARM-specific build of LightBurn before the sunset date for the translation layer LightBurn currently uses to run on Apple Silicon.
Is your monport showing ‘Ready’ in the laser tab? Just to be clear.
You can try rolling back your preferences to a known-good time via File > Prefs > Load Prefs Backup - give that a shot if you can confirm your USB connection path is solid.
Yes, Lightburn says my laser is ready. I tried loading a preference from March, but it didn’t make any difference. Is there anything between 2.1.00 and 2.1.02 that could have broken this, or is there some kind of incompatibility being surfaced in Mac OS 26.x? I don’t believe I used the laser with 26. I upgraded to 26.5 last night, and then tried to use the laser today to make some labels.
Ok, I’ve stepped back from 2.1.02, to 2.1.00 (didn’t work), to 2.0.01 and that worked. I was able to cut the labels. Only side affect was that my design was changed slightly. I got a warning when I opened it which said the file had been saved with a version newer than 2.0.05.
So I’d speculate that something changed around 2.0.01 that made my laser incompatible.
