Stacking fills over others to merge/block bottom image

Dear all

I have a black and white fill image, e.g. a hand with spread fingers. I duplicate, flip horizontally and then bring them together to meet in the middle. Even though, when looking on screen, the top fill white area covers the bottom image where they overlap, when they burn the white parts aren’t burnt and the black fills burn over each other, so burning twice where they overlap. I hope that I exampled this sufficiently.

So, 2 questions…

  1. Is there any way of making the top black fill area replace the bottom fill area and only burn the difference? Such as a weld function.
  2. Is there any way of making the white area of a top fill mask the bottom image at output, like it does on the screen.

Thank you
Dee
