I created a simple rectangle in Inkscape and added a node in between two corners.
When I tried using this node as a starting point in millmage, it was completly ignored (and my workpiece was ruined).
Here is the (minified) minimal example of that rectangle.
The node in the middle is made via inkscape and does not work at all, as you can see.
The node above is created with millmage, but starting there it jumps to the nearest corner.
The operation im trying to achieve is misusing my surfacing bit to create a groove on the side of my project. For that I plunge down outside of the stock (which MillMage already doesn’t like, but that’s a different topic) and do a profile, which works great in principle.
Off-Topic: How do I tell MillMage, that I know what I’m doing, when I’m outside the stock? Currently I virtually enlarge it and only work within the stock.
I thought we had fixed this, but apparently not. I think the issue is that after offsetting to produce the outside or inside line, the point you chose doesn’t exist in the resulting offset version of the shape, so the system chooses the nearest, or just the first.
(I just checked this and it does work if you run the bit along the line, just not when inside/outside, which I’ll fix)
Never, never, never run a job without running the preview first. The preview will do exactly what the machine will do, and will save you a lot of headaches and ruined material.
