I don’t have a lot of experience using sub-layers yet. I was wondering whether it’s possible to have a layer and sub-layers for different material?
For example, I use 00 layer for my engravings. Now I was thinking of creating two sub-layers, one for acrylic and the other for wood and have different settings for both. While I was doing this I also noticed the option to disable the output of a sub-layer. So when I’m working on acrylic I would disable the output for the wood sub-layer but this is not working. Even though the sub-layer output is disabled it still outputs it.
Am I misunderstanding the use of sub-layers or is there something else wrong in my way of thinking and trying to work with sub-layers?
This is not how it should behave. Disabled sub-layers should not output. Can you upload a sample file where this is occurring?
As far as your overall approach, you needn’t approach sub-layers this way since there’s a vastly better way of managing settings for discrete material types.
Use the Material Library to store your cut settings on a per material + thickness basis.
It actually doesn’t matter what file I use, even on a new file it behaves like that.
But I didn’t know about the Material Library. I will definitely explore on this to see if this is actually what I was looking for instead of the sub-layers. Thanks!
