Is it possible to add surface patterns using Millmage? Something as simple as a diamond pattern?..
Yes. Import it as an image, then Trace to convert it to a path.
The catch at this time is that Lightburn does not have a line trace mode. Any line in a graphic becomes two lines, left and right or top and bottom. Some clever editing quickly fixes this though.
Another option is to create your diamond, then use the Array Tool to make a pattern as large as you need.

If you select the pattern and click on the Array Tool, you will see that the spacing matches the diamond dimension in X and Y respectively. Took me a few seconds to figure that part out.

Did a test with your file and MillMage is milling diamond by diamond 1H29 if you draw parallel lines takes only 44 minutes. Maybe it can be optimized more.
We can Optimize Selected Shapes but the time is the same.
