I would like to cut a 100mm square using a 24mm surfacing bit. My problem is that I want to leave a 10mm border at the bottom of my WP. Preview shows the operation cutting through the 10mm border at the bottom of my WP.
Screenshot of Preview:
Following are the Operation settings followed by the Tool Settings:
My WP area looks like this:
What do I have to do to make sure the tool/operation does not cut outside the boundaries defined for the operation?
Please ask if you need more info.
Thanks

Have you tried grabbing the bottom of your design and dragging it up about 25mm? Without the program (.mage file) or seeing you grid scales, it is hard to determine what is happening in your situation.
from what I see, when i use the surfacing operation. is centre of tool is on outline of design so when it surfaces it goes 50% past all the edges
I would set it up as a pocket operation /raster using your 24mm bit with stock to leave of .75mm and than do a rest pocket to tidy the edges

There is another thread about the cutter not on the line when Surfacing.
Maybe they should be merged @JohnJohn ?
I was doing an epoxy and wood project and needed to surface off the epoxy so I created a square and setup a surfacing operation to clean off the epoxy.
What I didn’t notice is that the surface job went a full bits with outside of the square I had defined for the operations, the bit was a 25mm surfacing bit.
Is this expected?
Below I have setup two operations, a Pocket at a 4mm depth with a 1/4” endmill, then I setup a surface operation with a 1mm depth using a 1” surfacing bit.
You can see t…

In another posting, Oz (@LightBurn ) Said it DID trace the line and interpretation of his line spacing was the error.
Thanks for your help.
I made my first pass using 24mm as the tool diameter and it followed the line exactly as expected. I used raster 50% stepover.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
