So just completing my new and improved smaller and lighter laser/cnc using a mks-dlc32 controller with laser firmware for this build.
Pretty much got laser settings working. Tried switching to cnc and what a mess. Started looking around to see how to configure for a cnc and seems you have to reflash firmware each time to be able to do both, and then change settings on top of that.
If so seems like I would be better going back to Arduino as I struggle enough trying to switch back and forth with that.
Note: I am software challenged. I can build the machine but takes me at least as long to set up the software.
I expect you are using Lightburn for the Laser projects. What software are you using for the CNC mill operation?
This is probably what you are fighting. Make it good for the laser, then we can work on the changes for the mill. $32 will be obviously switched and you might be able to manage the coordinate changes with the G10 command. This can all be managed with macros in Lightburn.
Using openbuilds for control.
Heres what I found on gethub.
This is 3D view.
My laser is at the top and all the way over to the right on X axis.
Workspace shows 200mm X300mm. When I moved laser from Home position Top left all the way to the right it only registered about 30mm.
Unusual that Xaxis length is greater than Yaxis length. You do that on purpose?
My $130 and 131 values where accurate but workspace numbers where way off.
I since went back to Arduino controller and have Lightburn working. Will attempt CNC again soon.
