Text fill vs Grayscale Image power comparison-question

Using black anodized aluminum as a material…laser is a measly 5.5W head. Image is grayscale-negative image.Burning grayscale image settings is 80% max, 0% min @ 800 mm/min.
Burning filled text at 80% power, also at 800 mm/min.
The image will burn to the silver of the aluminum for the highlights down to black for the backgrounds.
The filled text with the same settings as the image will burn only to a golden hue, but not to the silver aluminum.
No matter how many passes/speed or power settings filled text will only burn to a golden color.
With all that said, my question is: Why does an image burn to silver highlights, but filled text won’t… using the same power/speed settings? In other words… Image at 80% power max and filled text at 80% power both at same speed give different results. Why?
Great product BTW. Lightburn Rocks!

Ok. Think I just answered my own question… given enough time, I usually can do that. Sorry!
The DPI settings need to be the same for the filled text as well as the image.

Keith, Im not getting how the dpi made a difference…as dpi is a distance mesurement, not a power level.
Can you explain.

Hey Pete.
You are correct… it is a distance measurement… but results in a clustering of projected light (power) into a closer given of area. Don’t know ig you are a hunter and know shotgun pellet patterns, but there is a relationship. A full choke barrel places the pellets in a tighter density. An improved cylinder choke will allow the pellets to spread out in a larger pattern. The full choke will blow a bigger/blacker/darker hole than the improved cylinder choke.
Think of is as density per inch as opposed to dots per inch… That’s why it makes a difference.
Hope that clears it up…

Thats a timely analogy!
It was open season here two days ago, There was a three shot volley fired from the field next to my house…about three seconds later a loose cluster of pellets were tapping on my roof.
So, Your text and their shotguns were both using improved choke!

Either that or there was a pheasant atop my gable and they were shooting weaksauce cartridges.

Oh Wow! LOL They should be using modified chokes I guess. Keep your head down buddy!
