Thanks for the help....tomorrow I "go live"

Hey guys, I’m new to this laser thing. I bought it to make tags for machines we work on, to look a bit better than the competition, and engraved tags will last, stickers get old and look crappy.

Well tomorrow I’m going live and testing my first burn on keychains and machine tags (business cars). Annodized aluminum. Thanks to all your help I think I have everything figured out tomorrow I’ll find out if I do or not.

I’ll be engraving on anodized aluminum. If anyone has any last minute tips to make it look great, I’d appreciate it. It’s basically just text on metal, nothing fancy yet, but it will be my first attempt at real life application.

Have a cleaner and rag to wipe off any residue.

Citrus based cleaner or alcohol works pretty good. Brake cleaner on a rag is very effective, but not healthy in large exposure amounts.

I got through a case of brake cleaner a week. A little extra in the air won’t matter. THanks for the advice. I also have lemon oil for fretboards, I’m guessing you mean citrus degreaser though.

Goo-gone, etc.

For anodized aluminum, I just used a microfiber cloth, or Magic Eraser and water.

Good luck tomorrow!

Well, that was an absolute failure. I have a small engine repair business and with the snow in the north east we’re working from 6AM to sometimes 11:30 PM. Usually till about 9:00 PM. So I had no time to play with it.

Two problems. 1. I think the limit switches are not set right and the laser crashes 2. Framing. I can’t get the framing right, but like I said, no time to play with it since then. I’ll read up and try again when this crazyness calms down.
