Thoughts on new pages function

Just used the Pages function of Lightburn. One of those things that I REALLY needed, but did not know it!. I just spent the last hour or so taking large laser cut files into one file with multiple pages. SO much easier to use. And easy to use! I know that this function was not easy to program, but it works so well! Thank you!

I think the intent for Pages was for multiple operations on one project. If you get it to work with multiple projects, that is great!

Probably did not explain well. Multiple operations from files that were downloaded. Multiple pages with different cuts. However, I have used it for smaller files with different operations cut requirements. I was using layers and turning them on and off..*

I don’t use it because my license has expired.
I recognize that it’s a very useful improvement, because currently, the way I have to “replace” the function is to import the necessary jobs and arrange them, in a more or less orderly way, outside the workspace.

That clarification makes sense. For a project split across several sheets, I’d name each page with the part group and material thickness, rather than just Page 1, Page 2, etc. That should make it easier to pick the right layout when reopening the project later. I’d also keep the original downloaded files separately, so there’s an untouched copy to refer back to if something gets moved or deleted during the reorganisation.

You just explained why, and how I have been doing it, that I should be using the Pages feature. Thanks!

Which brings me to an enhancement… It would be nice if we could overlay pages (make more than one visible) to make sure they are aligned.

You’re welcome!

By the way, your link took me to…
Oops!

It has to be reviewed by the Moderators first. Once approved, it will work, like it does now.

Correction: It still says “Awaiting moderation” so it may just be working for me now.

UPDATE: It is now an active link.

Probably as the author, you likely have exclusive access.

I had the same reaction when I first tried Pages. Being able to keep multiple sheets in one project instead of combining everything manually makes large jobs so much easier to organize. It’s a really useful addition.

Confirmed!

The solution presented in the link is, in my opinion, something that needs to be done to ensure everything is aligned.

Overlapping the pages allows for a quicker confirmation of whether or not something needs to be corrected.

Sounds like an interesting feature. I can’t seem to find the pages option. I am using version 2.1.04 and the Window dropdown menu does not show a Pages option. Restarting Lightburn and resetting the windows to default didn’t restore it. Instructions in Help topics and Online were no help. Does it depend on the size of the project that is open?

Multiple pages in a project is a new feature available in the 2.2 Release Candidates, it is not in 2.1.xx versions.

That’s because it only appears in version 2.2.
I’ll leave the video here.
