Tumbler engraving

Not sure what im doing wrong. My first time engraving a tumblr. I set all the setting in lightburn according to the sheet from longer like they suggested.

I measured out the tumbler and everything. But for some reason my text is still engraving in 1 spot on the tumbler.

This is my 4th time streaching the text out.

Why do i need to streach this out soo much ??
Is there something im doing wrong ??

You have some settings incorrect. Let’s start by looking at your rotary setup window. Post a screenshot of it (not a phone pic). Also, did you change any other settings?

Your roller diameter is set at 18 in, that should be mm. That’s why it’s hardly moving.

Once you make that change, do some testing on a tumbler wrapped in tape to verify you have the correct settings. Draw a 100mm by 10 mm rectangle and burn it in line mode at low power, jut enough to get a mark on the tape, and verify the dimensions are correct. Adjust your mm per rotation if needed. Once you have that correct, you shouldn’t need to adjust those settings ever again.

I highly suggest you do all your dimensioning in mm. I realize you have probably worked in imperial measurements your whole life, I have too, but working in mm is the standard worldwide, it’s the language your laser speaks, and it’s what the vast majority of other uers work in.

Okay. Thank you. I have my lightburn set in inches instead of MM. I guess ill have to change that to get the rotory setting changed to.

You can enter any value with it’s metric (inches, mm, ", ') and Lightburn will convert it to the system default. If you enter 25.4mm on Imperial based unit, it will convert it to one inch.

Good luck – have fun
