Hi! Im having trouble engraving an insulated mug and tumbler and they engrave well till they get to a certain point and make a gap. Im using a diode laser.
What type of rotary are you using? Roller or chuck? If roller, I would guess that the tumbler is slipping on the rollers.
Is a roller, what I can do so that dosen’t happen?
You can put some weight inside to help keep it from slipping. Some people use a roll of quarters. I use a lacrosse ball. You also need to ensure that it doesn’t move end to end by placing some kind of stop against it.
Both of those glitches look like they’re about a quarter of the way around from the handle, which suggests the weight of the handle sticking out to the side takes up some slack in the roller drive and moves it abruptly.
Check the roller drive train to make certain there’s nothing loose in there. Try to roll the rollers back and forth by hand: if you feel any loose motion, find out where it comes from and fix it.
Thanks I will check
