Anybody else having this problem on Debian 111 that when choosing “check for update” menu a small window opens for checking if a new update is available…but the window just stays there and nothing happens…
Also nothing on the console is visible…
Happens to me on 1.2.4 and 1.3.0.1 on Debian 11.6.

I don’t use that, but I tried it an got his result…
Maybe @JohnJohn has some kind of clue… It should work on mine also…
It’s kind of ‘holiday’ time … if they were smart, they’d be home enjoying Christmas with their families… 
SSL Context error is almost certainly caused by an openssl version compatibility issue.
I’d assume that LightBurn relies on an older version of the library.
Possibly try:
apt install libssl1.0-dev
My personal preference is not to hold back packages… This is the first time I’ve tried to use it… not a big loss.
