Upgrade 1.7.03 no longer respects layer ordering

Upgrade to 1.7.03 from 1.4.x. New version does not respect layer ordering according to the position of the entry in the Cuts/Layers list. It always cuts according to the Layer column. Sounds similar to previous issues in 1.1, 1.2.

Cut files I’m using are existing files that no longer work (meaning, this feature worked in previous versions).

Can you clarify what you mean by “it always cuts according to the Layer column”?

To me that would suggest it is respecting layer order, but since you’re saying the opposite, I must not be understanding your meaning.

Without knowing anything else, check to make sure you have Optimize Cut Path enabled in the Laser Window.

If Optimize Cut Path is toggled off, graphics are output in the order in which they were first created.

If it’s toggled on, the default is for graphics to output according to the order of layers in the Cuts/Layers Window, which I believe is what you want.

You can read more about Optimization Settings here:

To clarify… In the cuts/layers window, the columns are #, layer, mode, Spd/Pwr, etc. In previous versions, cuts have been processed according to the order in the “#” (first) column.

In the original report, it appeared to be cutting according to the “Layer” column. But, an other file did not follow that ordering (and seems to have behaved as you described above).

The Optimize Cut Path option was not set in either of these files. Turning it on and running through the preview window solves the ordering problem. Thank you!
