I recently purchased a Monoport GM50watt fiber laser. I already have a Ortur LM2 & 3 pro that I use very often with Lightburn. I upgraded to LB pro so I could run all three lasers with the same software. Now NOTHING WORKS. I get “This version of LB was released after your license expired.” You will need to renew it and it just shuts down.
I have tried to "Deactiviate the license and then redo as others have suggested and still nothing works. After tying to deactivate and reactivate with the key now I am getting “failed to connect to the network” I can home my LM2 pro but it won’t carve, or frame or anytning. My Fiber laser won’t work at all either. I lost a job this weekend because customer service has done nothing. It’s frustrating to spend $100 on an upgrade that doesn’t work and now I have 3 lasers that are worthless and to top it off I lost a couple hundred dollar job because I cant use my lasers. If I don’t get help within 24 hours I will just have to find a software company that actually helps paying customers.
If it were me, I would just go back to the last working version of LB and continue production with the 2 lasers that are making me money. Any problems with the new GM50 (pro license) I would then solve with LB directly.
I don’t know of any company where threats to switch to a competitor have had a positive impact on a pending case.
Since you’ve only been on this forum for 4 hours, you haven’t had enough time to see that all the “small problems” we have with LB are usually solved in a very short time, that customer service is one of the fastest and best on the market and that with the right behavior, there is always someone from the forum who contributes to getting a given problem solved.
Give LB and yourself a chance to get your problem solved before you find a better program/customer service
I did reach out as soon as I had the issue last night. No response now the program won’t even allow me to do anything it just says your version is expired and immediately closes. So now I can’t even try the other recommendations from the forum. Just makes me question if this software just isn’t reliable enough for me. My CNC machines software upgrades have been seamless without any problems for years. This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with LB so we will see what happens. Time is money and losing a couple hundred dollar deal after purchasing a so called upgrade doesn’t boost my patience or confidence in LB.
I don’t know how you can lose hundreds of dollars on a Saturday, most others (try) to take Saturday and Sunday off.
The response you get here, from us “normal users” and sometimes from LB people who use their free time for this on the weekends, is purely voluntary and intended as friendly help between colleagues.
I’m pretty sure that the service department will take care of your problem on Monday morning.
You upgraded the License type to have the capability to control your new fiber laser, but if you`re out of your license’s valid update period you need to buy one year of updates to update to the last version.
A LightBurn license is a digital key used to unlock the software for permanent use.
Every new license comes with a year of free updates from the date you first activate it. After a year, you’ll need to renew your software update period in order to receive updates for another year…
If you choose not to renew, you will always be able to continue using the most recent version of LightBurn that is compatible with your operating system and was released within your license’s valid update period.
