USB to Ethernet Ruida on Mac - Wifi

I have an OMTech 50 watt and decided to change the connection interface from USB to Ethernet due to the FTDI issues with Mac OS X on my Mac Mini.

When following the directions from Lightburn here in the forum I have noted that if your computer is 192.168.1.10 and you assign the laser to 192.168.1.60 (just arbitrary octets) that it only works if I turn off the wifi.

However if you set both the computer ethernet interface and laser to a different subnet (i.e. 192.168.10.x) that it works perfectly and the computer still has active internet on wifi.

Are you accessing it via wifi and then to Ethernet?

I have a ‘bridge’ on the network. I set the ip of the laser to one of the ‘static’ numbers allocated in the router. Configured the router as a ‘bridge’ on the local network.

I access it via the network. It’s connection to the network is via the bridge through the wifi of my main home router.

I guess what I’m asking is how is wifi involved?
