Using a Roundover bit

I would like to use a roundover bit but do not see an operation for this bit. What Operation should I use and what settings? Thanks.

Here is a link to a roundover set I purchased.

I am trying to round the edge of a pocket.

Although I can’t help you also new at mileage! I’m keen to see if or when you get a response we’re growing together mm and I !…..be after they get back now I presume

I do not think they have a tool procedure for that yet, but maybe you could do something like a single pass around the pocket rim (outline) at a fixed depth. Just thinking out loud here.

Thanks Mike. I have been trying that but it’s a bumpy road.

Maybe draw it as a cross section at 1:1 scale in MillMage. Then you can check position and measurements pretty accurately.

You could try a profile pass along the path up to the radius’ depth after the pocket is cut out?

With a part, you might get only one “try”, turning it into scrap. If I do not know for sure the outcome, I will sketch, to scale if necessary, what is supposed to happen and see if the numbers compute. Paper is way cheaper than materials. Even if I get it wrong, I can usually spot where I screwed up and call that experience.

Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want. :joy:

True, but there’s not only one way to generate the right toolpath.

It’s why we have the preview built in
