Using different device for design work

Hi, trying to set up workshop and office (private) to allow design on one machine and cut and engrave on second computer.
Because the laser (omtech 350) is not connected to the office computer,do I need to set a device up so that settings will be interpreted by the second computer ,without any conflict, that has the file transferred via wifi.
thanks

What I do is, I have the same laser set up on both machines. You don’t have to actually connect to a laser to use it for design, but by having the same work area on both machines your designs and placement work well.

Thanks Tim, I understand (i think).
a second question, I have worked out that using the SEND on the omtech I have created a file in the ruida controller ? that can be used over and over by just using the go button . Where is this file stored (if at all ) and if so can I name it and recall it at a later date.

If you send it to the machine it’s stored in the control panel. You can recall it from there. Does the polar have a control panel with a display?

The file you send is a RD file, I believe. There is also a limit to the number of files the ruida controller can store. When the memory gets too full the machine does some odd things.

You will want to save the file in Lightburn as well so you can edit it at a later date if needed. I save my files to a network drive that is accessible from all my computers.

Tim,
Heres what I have found re our discussion.
The omtech 350 does not have a contriol panel, All code is sent from lightburn to the laser.
In regard to the .rd file that can be saved to your computer and later retrieved is the same as saving the original .LBRN2 file to a folder and then selecting it later to be rerun.
Viewing the file in notepad shows the instructions to the laser , in an incripted form.

Another way to do it is to create a copy of your construction computer on your machine computer, with the same laser profile and all the associated libraries. This could be e.g. main library “laser” and sub-library LightBurn. In my Laser library I have further libraries such as “projects”, which are again divided into categories.
The most practical thing would be that both computers are connected via LAN and you can synchronize the necessary libraries over the network and start your laser from the “laser computer”. But, you can of course also send the lbrn2 files by email or use a USB stick…
I personally never use RD files for my work, because it is not necessary.

Yes dernd.dk , once my netwook is set up I will simply transfer my design files to to the work computer and run then in lightburn format. Design files are then stored on backup disk as well
Thanks all for the replys
