Using MillMage with a HiMill D1S via Exported G-code

Hi everyone — for transparency, I’m part of the MAXMAKE team.

I wanted to share a short workflow example for using MillMage to prepare an exported G-code file for machining on a HiMill D1S.

The workflow keeps CNC preparation and machine execution as two separate steps. In MillMage, we set the work area and zero point, create a Pocket operation, adjust the tool and cutting parameters, preview the toolpath, and export the G-code file. The file is then opened in MaxmakeLAB for work zero and machining.

The workflow guide and video are available here:

For anyone using MillMage with a third-party CNC machine, what do you normally verify first before running an exported file: the work zero, tool settings, file output, or the simulation?

Thanks for posting! I believe your machine is GRBL, which can also be directly controlled from MillMage - or you can export code as you described.

In my opinion, you should verify work zero, tool setting, and the Preview before sending any job!

Like @Colin said, all the above. But Preview is your best friend.
