Using TABS from within a DXF file

I import DXF files into Lightburn for cutting on my laser. I know I can add TABS to items both automatically and manually in Lightburn.
However is there any way to add makers to the cad file so I can position TABS outside of Lightburn so the postions is in the DXF?

I guess it depends on what CAD program you’re creating the dxf files in. If you’re using AutoCAD (or a clone thereof) you might be able to use the ‘Divide’ command.

Hope this helps.

If you aren’t looking to add gaps (tabs) in the DXF file, you can place small circles where you would like a tab to be in LB, and move them to a T1 layer after importing. Then, add tabs by zooming in, and placing them near the center of the circles.

If you are looking to add gaps (tabs) in the DXF file, then you can place circles that are the size of your manual required tabs where you would like them, and then trim out the line inside of the circle.

I’m not a frequent user of tabs. The few times I have, I felt the method inside LB was fast and flexible. What is the advantage of doing it in CAD?

Obviously useful if not using LB on all lasers. Potentially more efficient if tabs can’t be saved to the art library and the user doesn’t want to import lbrn2. Outside that, I’m not sure.

Just curious.
