I’ve noticed in LB, since V2+ , that a change to Device settings / Working Size dimensions, although it immediately applies/ is visible to the drawing grid overall size, the new dimensions do not immediately translate to the menu Arrange / ‘Move Selected Objects’ / ‘Move to Page Center’ action. Either closing / restarting LB or flip-flopping device selection is needed to effect the change to this action, perhaps others actions/tools also (did not test others).
Starting with version 2.0 the machine units and design units have separate controls. You can change one without affecting the other.
That is not the LB feature I’m reporting on. Rather, I’m referring to changing Working Size in menu ‘Laser Tools’ / ‘Device Settings’ / ‘Working Size’ X and Y dimension fields. Do that, then use the ‘Move to Page Center’ feature, and the new size is not reflected correctly to establish the ‘page center’ position.
OK, I misunderstood.
But why would you change the working size of your laser? You have multiple machines listed in your profile, so not sure what you’re working with. On a gantry machine the dimensions should never change. Genuinely curious.
This is your working area of the laser. As @thelmuth points out, you should not be changing it. If you have multiple lasers, create a separate Device for each of them. When you select the correct laser (Device), the Grid will automatically adjust.
The use case where I run into this bug with some frequency is with a ‘No Machine’ device. I use LB for my 2D CAD in many design use cases, some not even involving CNC work. But even with CNC projects, my CNC is a ‘land on surface’ design, so I’m not bounded by X and Y dimensions in a design phase. If I’m designing something where I want full coverage of the LB drawing grid, I re-dimension No Machine.
perhaps @LightBurn can have a look at this bug.
And not any other Device? I thought No Machine was just for banging aroung Lightburn to get to know it. If you are going to do actual design work, should you not know the machine limits?
After changing the working size you need to right-click on Devices in your Laser Window. This will refresh the settings LightBurn is using to center the object in your workspace:

This isn’t a bug. The software simply wasn’t designed for you to be constantly changing your working size.
fair enough. easy fix. thank you.
although ‘constantly’ is a bit overstated, ‘occasionally’ is more like it. ![]()
and of course, even if done once after initial definition of device… well, 'nough said.
Thank you.
