Variable Text - Show Data

I like the variable text function and it works well. I know you can press the “test” button to show the text. Can an option be added to allow the database text to display all the time or a switch to go back and forth without having to press the test button.

Unfortunately no - the system would also need to be updated to:

remember the original formatting string
not allow you to edit the displayed text

It’s feasible to do this, but it would be a decent amount of work.
