I have two Windows 11 laptops with LightBurn 1.2.04 loaded on each (same license). One always loads LB in 5 seconds or less and operates perfectly after that. The other always takes typically 60+ seconds to go from the splash screen to being fully loaded and ready to go, then operates perfectly after that. I have uninstalled and reinstalled LB on each laptop, but the behavior remains the same. All other apps operate fine on both computers, including such things as FreeCad, PrusaSlicer 2.5, MS office apps, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for solving this riddle?
Here’s an additional observation: when I disconnect the problem computer from the network (and internet), LB loads normally. So clearly LB is checking something (probably the license status?) during loading if there is internet available. If not, it just loads. Still can’t understand why my other laptop loads and runs normally (same router, network credentials, etc.).
Can you confirm what kind of laser your are using and how it is connected to the computer?
If you had a larger CO2 machine with a Ruida controller connected over network, I may have seen something relevant. If it’s just the XTool (over USB?) then it’s not the same thing.
This is likely LightBurn having trouble finding files that are on a networked drive. There is a check that the files in the ‘Recent Files’ list actually exist - If you have any in that list that are on network drives, it might take significant time to verify they’re present. The next release will have a fix to automatically remove an entry if it is not found which should solve this issue.

This is what was apparently happening. I went into the pref.ini file and deleted all the file names that were showing up in that menu item. When I opened LB it was instantaneous, and that menu item was greyed out. I think the change you are contemplating is a good move.

Actually this particular laptop has never been connected to a laser. I use it in my office to design LB files which are then stored on my NAS, then move to my garage laptop which is connected to my xTool D1 Pro. The garage laptop has always worked fine.
Thanks to both of you for responding. Great software, and great support to go along with it. …Jack
