Wecreat 40W Laser issues

I’m posting my issues with my Wecreat 40W laser and getting it to work with Lightburn software.

I’ve received a great deal of help/support from this community so I want to give back in this post.

I decided to use Lightburn software after finding out that the Wecreat Makeit software was very limited in what it could do and also the fact that its linked to its online store. I wanted software that was local and does not have an online connection.

My first challenge was making the connection between Lightburn software and my 40W Wecreat Laser. This should have been just a matter of downloading the LBDEV file from Wecreat, importing it into Wecreat and done. Let me interject that this was months ago before Lightburn sent Wecreat an updated correct version which solved the problem.

Working with Wecreat support was/is very frustrating and their usual response was “this is not our issue or I must be doing something wrong” made this a very frustrating situation indeed.

My second issue after issue #1 was resolved and working was now my Laser was all of a sudden under powered, both when using Wecreate’s Makeit software and Lightburn. Previous cut setting no longer worked.

Wecreat did help me with this issue after much back and forth determining that the Laser lens was burnt beyond cleaning so I ordered a new one and a backup/spare.

Lesson learned here, every so often, based on manufactures recommendations clean the lens, I was totally unaware that this maintenance had to be done.

In closing, many thanks go out to this forum for all your help!!! I still have some calibration that needs to be done but I would like to think the worse is behind me, fingers crossed.

Regards, Peter

I have checked the lens on my 40w laser, but have never had to clean it. I believe this is because I always have some degree of air assist on at all times. If air assist is available for your machine, it is well worth it. If you have it, make sure it is working.

Hi Mike, I have air assist on my machine and always use it but it didn’t prevent this from happening.

Wecreat support recommends periodic maintenance to prevent this.

I have attached the new lens and the old one I replaced.

Wow! You really got your money’s worth out of that one.

To me that indicates there is not enough air pressure in the nozzle to keep the bad stuff out. Either the nozzle opening is too wide or the air pump is not delivering.

Like buying new lenses every so often? :joy:

As far as I know you cannot adjust the air pressure, and if you can please let me know.

Peter

Not on those dinky little air pumps they give us with the laser.

How big is the hole in the laser nozzle? A 0.5mm hole is more than big enough for the laser beam.
