What do you when cutting underneath?

What do you use when you cut a piece avoiding to ruin the table underneath?

For diode lasers, most people have a “spoil board” under their machine.

Usually what’s underneath is ‘expendable’ or ‘scrap’

I have a metal table and I prop the material up on 5mm magnets. Allows air flow underneath when cutting. Mine is a co2…

Good luck

A plywood board lined with aluminum foil.

It’s going to reflect/absorb or somewhere in between the energy from the laser. Aluminum reflects somewhere around 96% of the energy. That sometimes shows up on the backside of what you are engraving from reflection.

Maybe paint it black…?

Aluminum foil matte side up… I’ve been using it for 6 years, nothing ever happened.
