This is a new problem to me and is only happening on the one computer (all other file on this computer open on the computer screen as they are suppose to). I open a Lightburn file and it will open on the taskbar, but when I try to expand it to the computer screen it does not open. I have a HP Computer and running windows 11. OmTech Laser with Ruida Controller.
Is Lightburn not opening or the Lightburn file? Open Lightburn then use the open command from within Lightburn to open a file. Maybe post a creenshot of what you’re seeing?
The file opens, but if opens on the Taskbar, then when I try to enlarge it (or open it to the computer screen when I can work with it) it does not open. I downloaded version 2.00.02 and loaded it again and it does the same thing. I deleted Lightburn from my Computer and Download the Trail Version and it does the same thing. This is only happening with Lightburn all my other files open correctly.
When you say file do you mean Lightburn or do you mean a lightburn design file? What exactly are you clicking to open? Just trying to mke sure we’re talking the same language. Lightburn is a program, files are what you create within Lightburn or a word processor or other program.
Did it ever work on this computer?
Please show a screenshot of what you’re clicking and also the result.
Thanks for your reply. Let me try and be a little clearer: I open the Lightburn Software and it will open, but it opens in the Taskbar not of the Computer Screen. When I try to maximize the Taskbar, it will not maximize. Same think when I try and open a file first. All the other Software on the Computer Work. Lightburn has worked on this Computer for four years before I DOWNLOADED Version 2.0.02. It works on the computer in the house that has Version 1.5.01 loaded, but unfortunately it is to large for the shop. ( I couldn’t get Screen Shot to work.)
I don’t know why it would be acting that way, but try this. Right click on the icon you click to open Lightburn and choose run as administrator. See if that works. If that doesn’t work, roll back to 1.7.08 and see what happens.
I have tried running it as admnistrator and it didn’t not work. How do I “ROOL BACK” TO 1.7.08? I can’t do it from the Software since it is not working.
Delete the current Lightburn program. Download the desired version from the link I provided and double click the downloaded file. Follow the installer instructions.
I don’t see a link.
Nothing changed. v1.7.08 does the same. I have tried everything I know to do and everything you have suggested without a fix. I just don’t know where to turn now, but I really appreciate your trying to help.
Did you try rebooting the computer?
Bill, can you please post a screenshot of the problem?
You can also try this:
A recent Windows update changed some Windows Runtime components. You may need to restore the components in order to open LightBurn.
Please install the two files below and then try again.
Neither of those updates changed anything. I tried again to get the Window to upload, but don’t see any sign that it did.
I got it to work. I’m a little embarrassed to say this, but it wasn’t broke after all. I have a second monitor attached that records the file running on the Laser. And, even though that monitor was turned off, it was still opening the file on that monitor. Three days wasted, but now I know. Thanks to both of you for your help. It’s great to have a outlet like this.
I’m glad you got it sorted.
Thank you for having the courage to report the solution, no matter how embarrassing it might be!
