Why cant i all of a sudden connect my laser to lightburn. Worked well up until now. All it says is waiting for a connection. It works with a different program but not with lightburn which it did up untill now

Is the other program still running? Anything else change?

no the other program is shut down. and i restarted my computer a couple times and nothing works. nothing has changed as far as i know. but i havent used it in a couple weeks but that has never been an issue before

Did you choose a COM port?

it just says waiting for connection, and once right before i closed the program it said connected for 29 milliseconds

yes it gives me three to choose from and i tried all three none work

would it work to reinstall lightburn?

You can try it. That rarely solves anything, but if a file was corrupted that could help.

so what do u suggest i try then?

I’m at a loss. You said nothing changed, so there’s no reason the board would simply stop working in LightBurn but keep working elsewhere. Try re-installing. We also have a new version coming that includes a fix for some Arduino communication issues, and that might help too.

i just uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does the exact thing. when is the next version coming out? i really need to get this working!

Is there no way to run a debug or something that you could see what the problem is?

It still doesn’t work even after the new install you sent me… all I am getting is a short laser beam when the program starts or when I select it and then it says waiting for connection

Do this:

  • Run LightBurn
  • Go to Help > Enable debug logging (at the bottom of the help menu)
  • Choose a COM port
  • Count to 5
  • do that for each of the 3 ports
  • quit

You’ll find a file called LightBurnLog.txt in your Documents folder. Attach that here so I can have a look.

COM3 worked, connected, and got a response:

If you use COM3, it doesn’t work?

Tried it now and it works. Thank you i appreciate that. after the update i actually didn’t check if i can move the laser, it didn’t pop up under devices so i assumed it didn’t connect properly again. Sorry for that! Works perfect now. Thanks for the quick response and support!
