I am getting so disheartened I just can’t seem to get rid of the wiggly lines I have adjusted everything but I am no expert as I have only had my Sculpfun s9 for a week I know it’s a basic model but surely I would get better results than this?
I think you still have a mechanical problem.
Can you type $$ into console and paste results?
I now seem to be incapable of pasting but here are some photos does this help?
Thankyou for helping me.
Your numbers don’t look out of the ballpark.
I would recheck belts, drive pulleys, set screws, couplers and laser head for any looseness.
My first laser was also a Sculpfun S9. While not as obvious as your problem, I had similar. I had to retighten my belts. You might also have to adjust the eccentric nut as well. Since you have waves in x and y, my first guess is loose belts. After adjustment, with the power disconnected from the control board (too much/rapid movement can feed back into the control board and possibly cause a short), tilt the machine at a 45° angle. The gantry should move freely, but not too fast. Say a few seconds to go from top to bottom.
Here is a guide that shows the most common causes that you might need to check:
The wheels are more crucial than the belts usually. And the grub screws need to be checked as well.
For the S9, you can also try to reduce acceleration $120, $121 to 500 or 250 (is 1000 by default). And I recommend not running faster than 3000 mm/min.
Thankyou I think it was the eccentric nuts!
Thankyou for this
