I installed Lightburn on my new Dell Inspiron which came with Windows 11.
Did some configuring of menu arrangement within Lightburn and added + configured a Lightburn camera.
Everything works exceptionally well until today when Windows ran an OS update of some sort.
My configuration is mostly lost including my window layout and camera calibration.
The laser configuration and materials software were retained.
Is there a configuration file stored in Windows for which the system may have lost the path?
I’m hoping there was a default location for the config file and I will be able to simply reload it.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
PS - I looked for this issue on the forum before posting, but did not find it.
Hello David,
I can tell by your alias that you’re a Blue-Oval guy. It’s nice to see another Ford enthusiast here.
I’d like to get a few pieces of information to start things off in a constructive way.
When I click on your name on the forum I can see that you’ve got an OMTech 50 and a Thunder Nova 35/100 and a Dell… and an iMac… Since it’s the Dell/Windows 11 box that seems to be the source of the problem can you tell me which Laser is connected to it and what kind of camera you’re using.
You said that you can connect and communicate with the laser but stuff is missing. I’d like to try to move toward what’s still correct and just make sure that it’s set to communicate with the intended device. It appears that both lasers would have factory Ruida controllers and and I’d like to confirm that’s still true and that that there aren’t any other ‘hot-rod’ surprizes or upgrades.
Hi John,
Yes, I’m a car guy from birth. Not locked into a brand though, as long as it’s a great performer.
When I filled out my profile, I included the Thunder Laser but it won’t be delivered until January. Right now just using the OMTech. Both use Rudia controllers. I purchased the camera direct from Lightburn.
I was able to get the other Lightburn settings back by copying a backup configuration file to prefs.ini and
I ended up recalibrating the lens and alignment for the Lightburn camera, so I’m back up and running.
I have been careful to make good backups of the profs.ini file from time to time in order to be able to recover as much as possible if (when) Windows dumps on me again.
