X axis shifting randomly ruida controller

I have been experiencing this problem recently is has got progrssively worse, now it is happening randomly on every other job.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening here ? Ruida controller, 40watt

It has the look of a grub screw being lose in the pulley.

It recovers after being off completely so it appears to me as a mechanical issue.

Usually if a machine loses track of where the head is, it never recovers, this seems to recover and would indicate mechanical as the most likely issue.

Do a good inspection of the mechanics. With a grub screw it might be easier to just try and tighten it.

Jack’s suggestion is worth reviewing.

However, whenever I’ve seen similar circumstances this tends to end up being a communication fault.

How are you connected to the controller and how reproducible is this?
